Taiyo Power & Storage (Taiyo), a joint venture between Kajima and Low Carbon Alliance, has sold its 42 Megawatts (MW) greenfield solar project in Swansea, South Wales at “Ready-to-Build” stage, to Infinis Solar Developments Limited.
Parc Solar Caenewydd is expected to produce 43.8 GWh of renewable energy per year and will be co-located with a 46MW Battery Energy Storage System. The project, which will be built across 190 acres of land, will help power approximately 22,000 homes and offset approximately 8,445 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. With planning consent obtained in Q4 2024, the scheme is expected to start producing energy by Q4 2026.
Parc Solar Caenewydd supports the Welsh Government’s target to generate 100% of the nation’s electricity demand from renewable sources. The scheme will also allow for continued agricultural production via sheep grazing among solar panels, and safeguard the existing local shop and business.
Since its inception in 2021, Taiyo has been developing a portfolio of ground-mounted solar and battery energy storage facilities across the UK. This initiative aims to align with the UK Government’s pledge to achieve a net zero carbon footprint by 2050 and to fulfil Kajima’s objective to develop 3.5GW of renewable energy projects across Europe over the next five years.
Chris Gill, Director at Taiyo Power & Storage and Managing Director at Kajima, said: “As our second UK project to achieve planning consent and subsequently sold to Infinis, this scheme in Gowerton represents yet another milestone in Kajima’s strategy to deliver renewable energy across the UK. As a social impact investor and developer, we are committed to developing additional solar energy assets to improve the nation’s renewable energy capacity, and supporting local communities in enhancing climate resilience and reducing energy costs.“
Simon Crowe, Director at Taiyo Power & Storage and Managing Director at Low Carbon Alliance, said: “Solar power is vital to decarbonising the grid. Projects like Gowerton are central to building a sustainable future, providing affordable, secure, and independent energy while advancing the UK’s commitment to reaching net zero by 2050. We remain focused on delivering initiatives that empower communities and achieve our nation’s strategic energy goals.”
Andrew Leeding, Director of Development and Construction at Infinis, said: “We are delighted to have secured the Gowerton project, further bolstering Infinis’ rapidly growing solar portfolio and furthering our commitment to continued investment in renewables. As a leading generator of low carbon energy, we look forward to constructing and operating the project and delivering another important project in moving the UK closer to its 2030 clean power target.”

About Taiyo Power & Storage
Taiyo Power & Storage is a joint venture between Kajima and Low Carbon Alliance. Born out of a desire of the stakeholder partners to affect environmental change through innovation, leadership, and creativity. With projects across the United Kingdom, Taiyo develops both solar power farms and battery storage units.
The UK Government’s commitment to Net Zero by 2050 brings about a pressing need to increase renewable energy sources by up to five times current levels. While this energy transition is well underway, there is still much to do in order to decarbonise our National Grid. It is a challenging target, but it is one which is bringing change, opportunity, and excitement to the energy market. Through Taiyo’s collective experience and expertise, we have a unity of purpose and the strength to drive this change towards net zero.

About Infinis
Infinis generates low-carbon, renewable energy from methane capture (from landfill sites & former mines), solar and flexible generation. Methane is 25x more damaging to the earth’s atmosphere than CO2, and the Infinis sites capture almost 5 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent each year and turn this into 24/7 renewable electricity.
As a key contributor to the UK’s energy transition, Infinis is focused on maximising the value of existing renewable generating assets while accelerating the deployment of new solar and storage projects. With 141 operational sites generating over 1TWh annually, and a growing footprint of new solar and battery assets, Infinis is helping deliver reliable, homegrown renewable power to support the UK’s net-zero ambitions.
